Storz Couplings

A straight-through coupling, in which both halves are identical. Each half has forward projecting lugs and mating recesses. Any two parts with the same lug dimensions will connect together.

This is the standard German tanker connection.

• Working pressures up to 240 psi (16 bar).

• Different lug spaced units can be used to prevent accidental cross line contamination.

Applications

The Storz system was originally designed for fire fighting equipment. It is suitable for water and a wide range of other fluids. It has also been adopted for use with powder blowing systems.

How it Works

The coupling is connected by simply locating the lugs into the recesses of each half and turning clockwise up to the stop. One half of the coupling normally has a swivel head which prevents hose/pipe twists when connecting. Couplings can be connected by hand or with the aid of spanners designed for the purpose.

The standard coupling material is Aluminium with Nitrile Rubber Seal. The coupling is also available in Brass and Stainless Steel and other seal materials in white food quality Nitrile, Viton and Silicon are also available. Safety options include locking devices, limit and proximity switches for electronic signalling of filling processes.

1” Storz ‘D’ with 31mm distance between lugs

2” Storz ‘C’ with 66mm distance between lugs

3” Storz ‘B’ with 89mm distance between lugs

4” Storz ‘A’ with 133mm distance between lugs
