What is a Hose Loading Arm?
If you are unfamiliar with Hose Loading Arms, what they are or how they work, we thought we would provide you with a quick overview. Their primary function is to handle heavy hoses and fittings in applications where equipment, loading locations or weight make manual operating either prohibitive or where there is a significant health and safety risk to operatives.
Reduce Health & Safety Risks by using the RS SGA Loading Arm
Hoses are normally used to convey liquids and gases. They allow various fixed points to be connected to a mobile unit. The weight of filled hoses along with their couplings can become incredibly heavy. This has the potential to cause injury to personnel and is the most common factor in improper hose handling. Furthermore, hoses and hose assemblies are a valuable asset in any assembly or operation. Poor or improper hose handling leads to damaged hoses and their fittings, impacting running costs considerably.
By using specially designed hose loading arms you can eliminate the risk to personnel and reduce costs.
Why Use Hose Loading Arms?
- Extend hose life by keeping the hose off the floor with no kinking due to bend stops
- No manual handling of hose
- Can be easily operated by one person
- Supports hose and coupling weight
- Lowers maintenance costs
- Heath & safety: No trip hazard as the hose is off the floor
Ideal Applications for Hose Loading Arms
- Top loading
- Bottom loading
- Ship loading
- Barrel & IBC filling
- Railway tankers
- Tank truck loading & unloading
- ISO containers
