Combination Nipples & Hose Menders
Do I need a Combination Nipple or a Hose Mender?
A combination nipple is a cylindrical metal connection that connects two pieces of hose with the option of providing a reducing solution (where both hoses have different sized IDs). Combination nipples are designed to eliminate the need for enlarged cuffed hose ends. The hose stem is swaged to suit the respective hose ID size. The hose stem is multi-serrated and correctly profiled for secure hose grip when effectively clamped. Nipples can be used in conjunction with a wide variety of coupling types, which can easily be replaced when damaged without disturbing the hose end.
Hose menders are similar to combination nipples, only both ends are serrated. Hose menders can be used for connecting two ends of hose and provide a straight-through connection. They are often used to repair damaged hose and assemblies and therefore offer a cost-effective solution to the issue of replacement.
