Traceability
Having confidence in a manufacturer is important, especially in certain industries. So, when you must demand the best quality fittings, Snaplock is the clear winner. Snaplock Couplings provide peace of mind.
Secure Fluid Transfer
Snaplock® couplings are capable of carrying liquids, powders and granules and are interchangeable with all other camlocks made to the same standard (A-A-59326A – formally the MIL-C-27487). This means you don’t have to worry about compatibility or replacing more than one part at a time. You can trust that each Snaplock product will interchange with other camlock couplings made to the same specification.
Why Choose Snaplock?
Buying branded Snaplock Camlocks, your products are:
Traceable
Auditable
Health & Safety Compliant
All etched with the Snaplock brand on the handles and or bodies for easy identification
Snaplock® Coupling Threads
Standard Snaplock® couplings, when fitted to hose nipples are designed to seal on the thread. Snaplock male threads are therefore BSP taper to BS21 and the Female thread is BSPP parallel to BS 2779. In cases where the nipple has a male parallel thread and is designed to seal on a gasket, most sizes of Snaplock camlock couplings with female threads in Aluminium or Stainless Steel can be supplied with an undercut to suit. NPT is also available as standard.
Other End Fittings
Hose tails are double ribbed for metallic couplings, multi-serrated for polypropylene. Hose tails are also available to DIN 2828. Flanged or weld ends are also available. Please call our office for details.

Further Specifications
- Aluminium cam and groove couplings are gravity die cast and may be anodised on request, particularly for military contracts
- Brass camlocks are forged for 1/2” to 3” and sand cast for all other sizes
- 316 Stainless Steel cam and groove couplings are investment cast
- Polypropylene cam and groove couplings are manufactured from acid-resistant 20% glass reinforced polypropylene
Snaplock FAQs
What is a Snaplock® Coupling?
Snaplock® fittings are low to medium pressure, quick release coupling systems. These high-quality fittings are used as a means of connecting and disconnecting hose lines swiftly, without the use of hand tools. They are commonly used within manufacturing industries for the safe and clean transfer of fluid.
What Specification Options do Snaplock® Couplings Come in?
Snaplock comes in a range of materials, so whether it is an Aluminium, Stainless Steel, Polypropylene or a Brass Camlock you are looking for, we can help fulfil your requirements in a range of sizes from ½” – 6”. Larger fittings are also available on request. Snaplock Couplings come with a range of seals, including Nitrile, EPDM, Viton, Neoprene, FEP/Silicone encapsulated.
When Can I Use a Snaplock® Coupling?
Snaplock® replaces the old style threaded couplings, which featured both a male and female thread that required screwing together and tightening with a lug spanner in order to securely make or break lines. The quick release system speeds up workflow and is a perfect replacement for this older style screwed fittings.
- Ideal When the application involves low value or non-hazardous products and a simple basic solution is all that is needed.
- When you require a straight-through connection and no valve or automatic shut-off is required.
- Applications where a quick disconnection is desired.
What Media Can I Use?
Although Snaplock couplers are mainly used for fluid transfer, they can be used with a variety of media and almost any liquid type, in fact too many for us to list here! The combination of the body material used and the type of seal determines the media your fitting will be compatible with. If you’d like advice on which seals and materials you need for your application, please call us +44 (0)1235 512500.
How Does a Snaplock® Coupling Work?
The product includes a male adaptor and a female coupler. The two handles need to be closed at the same time when connected. The handles are specifically designed to close at the same time. Failure to do this may cause damage to the fitting.
What Should I Avoid Doing with Snaplock®?
Some key considerations for operating your Snaplock product include:
- Do not try to force the handles closed
- Check that you are fastening them both together
- Trying to force closure may result in damage
- Snaplock hose fittings are designed for use with low-pressure liquid applications, and are not for compressed air and/or gases.
What Preventative Maintenance Steps Can I Take?
Action Sealtite always recommends a maintenance programme be in place. The coupler half of the fitting’s moving parts are subject to wear and tear and as such should be checked regularly and worn parts replaced.
Checking and replacing worn parts regularly will increase the life of your products and ensure that health & safety considerations are met. We supply all the spares you require, so check our range of handles, rings and pins and seals/gaskets. So it’s easy to keep spares on the shelf.
