What is a Compressed Air Line Fitting?

Air line fittings are a range of normally single shut-off quick release couplings. The compressed air line fittings we supply are interchangeable with those offered by manufacturers such as, Rectus, Schraeder, Parker, Hansen, Walther and Tema amongst others, making it easier for you when ordering. If a branded product is already in place, our equivalent air line fittings will be fully compatible.

Our series are English profile industrial air line connectors, which provide high flow rates. This is especially important to compressed air applications. Compact dimensions, lightweight and single-handed operation make them suitable for a wide range of applications.

How do Compressed Air Line Connectors work?

These couplings are very easy to use. They are ‘quick release’ and so connect and disconnect very simply and swiftly. This operation can be undertaken with one hand, without the use of tools. This helps towards an efficient and slick workflow and provides a safe and functional solution.

To create the connection, the plug is pushed into the socket, which makes the sleeve spring forward and automatically lock into place. When disconnecting the fitting, simply pull the sleeve back and the coupling is disconnected immediately.

Air Pressure Fittings Specifications

There are many different variations of air hose connector types. Whatever your requirements, the right fitting for your application will be available in the options outlined below. For further advise on the best solution for your application, please call our expert team on +44 (0)1235 512500

Seals

Different seals are available for different media and applications.

The standard coupling is supplied with a Buna nitrile seal

Viton seals are also available on request

Fittings Materials

All air line fittings come in plated steel as standard, but other variations are available.

Stainless steel compressed air fittings are available and are specifically designed for liquid and/or aggressive media. They offer a high corrosion resistance and great strength.

Brass is also an option if required on request.

Connections

Wide variety of Male, Female and Hose Tail end connections

Sizes - 1⁄4” to 1⁄2” in the most popular Series

Working Pressures - 20°C to +100°C 1 15 bar (230 PSI)

Interchangeable

Valves

Straight Through - These couplings have no shut-off valve and so they offer the greatest possible flow rates. Turbulence is often experience with an integrated valve, and that is avoided with this solution. Straight-through couplings are ideal for liquid media – e.g. water. Before unlocking, the flow must be stopped.

Single Shut-Off - On a single shut-off system, the plug half is designed straight through, however the socket half shuts off immediately as soon as the connection is broken. Media stays in only one end of the line, making this an ideal solution for the operation of compressed air tools.

Double Shut-Off - After disconnection double shut-off valves stop the flow in both the socket and the plug. The medium therefore remains in both ends of the connecting line and none of the medium is lost. This option is especially suitable when transferring aggressive media or in sensitive environments where no spills can be tolerated such as in a clean room.

Coded Systems

If the application demands that no systems be cross-connected or mixed, coding is always an option. Please ask us for more details on our coded air hose connectors.

Maintenance

As with all types of couplings and air hose connectors, if the fittings are in frequent use, we would always recommend thorough and consistent maintenance schedules be implemented. We can assist you with advice on this subject and would be happy to help.
